DCC student create paddlefish - inspired art (slideshow 4)

For the Ranger-Review

The Glendive Chamber of Commerce and Dawson Community College art instructor Jennifer Wheeler combined efforts for an art contest featuring paddlefish.

With paddlefish season just around the corner, Chamber Director Christine Whitlatch contacted Wheeler to see if she would be interested in having her art students create paddlefish drawings. Wheeler made the paddlefish part of the students’ final project, according to Whitlatch.

Chamber officials chose the top four of 11 art pieces submitted.

The winning artists were Clancy Sayer, Layton Bohlman, Maria Zimdars and TJ Stevens. All winners will be given Chamber Bucks for their efforts.

Sayer’s art will be used on t-shirts sold by the chamber at some point, Whitlatch said.

“We are hoping we can do this as an annual event and have new art to promote paddlefish and caviar each year,” she said.
