WEB EXCLUSIVE: Flood rescue (Video and Slideshow)

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Department and the Dawson County Rural Fire Department rescued Denise Walker and her husband in their 3-year-old daughter after they got stuck in flood waters Tuesday night.

Seven Mile Creek flooded the Walkers’ property Tuesday after a storm quickly dropped 2.5 to 3.5 inches of rain in the area.

“We got stuck in the flooding of Seven Mile Creek on our property, and the great community service officers were there to help us out,” Denise said.

She called the experience “scary,” especially because they had their young daughter with them.

Wearing life preservers and tied to rescue vehicles, firefighters Wyatt Kueker and Tony Munson made their way to the Walkers’ stranded vehicle and brought the family to safety.

“A special thanks to the fire and rescue volunteers who braved the cold and fast moving water for us,” Denise said.
