Ervin Byron Follmer was born July 16, 1936 to Henry and Tillie (Huber) Follmer in Willard, Mont. He went to school in Plevna for six years and then two years to the country school by the family farm where he graduated eighth grade.
He drove truck for Jack Long, hauling cattle. He joined the Army in 1958 and due to a medical issue he only served for 23 days. When he came home, he went to work for Standard Oil Service Station in Baker. Ervin met his future wife, Bonita Idler, in Baker; they were united in marriage on November 25, 1961 in Plevna.
He started work for Daniel’s Oilfield Construction and they then moved to Glendive in April 1964. He continued to work for them for the next 25 years. Ervin then went to work for Mitchell’s Oilfield Service for the next 27 years. He was a very dedicated and hard worker and enjoyed working. Even after he retired, he worked as a janitor for Kmart for five years and then at the local food pantry for four years.
He loved going to church and serving the Lord. Every Sunday he attended church and would take the lesson of the sermon with him through the work week.
