Ervin Lovaas, age 82, of Glendive, Montana, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care in Glendive. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor Avis Anderson officiating. Interment will be held in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Ervin was born on April 15, 1932, in Glendive, the son of Erling and Cora (Fowler) Lovaas. He was raised and educated in Glendive attending high school at Dawson County High School graduating with the class of 1950. While Ervin attended high school he was involved in football and ran track. Following high school, Ervin purchased his Uncles farm north of Lindsay which he operated for fifty years until he retired. During the summer months, Ervin hired high school students to help on the farm. On December 14, 1949, Ervin married his high school sweetheart, Marie Egeness at Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive and to this union three children were born.
Ervin took a lot of pride in his garden and yard. He enjoyed playing poker at the Oasis, taking care of the neighbors dogs and visiting with all his surrounding neighbors in Winchester Place. Some recreational sports Ervin participated in were snowmobiling and skiing; he even went on a skiing trip overseas in Europe.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Londa in 1968; son, Randy in 2012 and sister, Donna Mae Olson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Marie Lovaas of Glendive; daughter, Lori (Gary) Brengle of Glendive; sister, Kathleen Wheeler of Bozeman,; two grandsons, Eric Lovaas of Glendive and Jacob Lovaas of Billings; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
