Katherine Zinda, age 85, of Glendive, Montana was granted her angel wings on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Eastern Montana Veterans Home in Glendive. Her strong will, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried her through her battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with Father Francis Schreiber officiating. Immediately following the mass, lunch was provided by the Catholic Daughters of America (CDA) in the basement at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. At the completion of lunch, Rite of Committal was held in the Wibaux cemetery in Wibaux, Montana. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive was entrusted with the arrangements.
Katherine was born April 1, 1929 to Dominick and Kathrina (Schaan) Job in Wibaux. She was raised and educated in Wibaux. Following her education Katherine worked as a telephone operator in Glendive and California. Katherine returned to Wibaux where she met Harry Raymond Zinda. They were later married in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and raised three children; Rod, Larry, and Kimberly. Katherine and her family lived in several different areas of Montana until Harry passed away after only eight years of marriage. Katherine later moved to Red Lodge, Montana where she worked for the U.S. Postal Service and later operated a home daycare. She returned to Glendive in the early 90’s.
Katherine was a devout member of the Catholic church with a strong faith in the Lord. She was a member of the CDA and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Besides watching Jeopardy and EWTN, Katherine enjoyed children, spending time with her many friends and traveling to visit her cherished family.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harry; five brothers, Leonard, Ludwig, Dominick, Ralph, and Frank Job; two sisters, Marie Kammerer and her twin Caroline Schuhrke.
Surivors include her children, Rod Zinda of Rockford, Washington, Larry (Maureen) Zinda of Stony Creek, New York, and Kimberly (Donald “Moose”) Schauber of Prattville, Alabama; six grandchildren, Stacey (Chris) Sharpe of El Paso, Texas, Mary (Craig) Grant of Glenrock, Wyoming, Justin and Jared Zinda of Stony Creek, Matthew (Ashlee) Schauber of Salem, Oregon, and Tyler Schauber of Millbrook, Alabama; three great grandchildren, Cooper Grant, Mickincee and Ireland Schauber; one brother, Tom Job of Billings, Montana; five sisters, Eva Parker of California, Annie Pearson of Minnesota, Rosie Walsh of Billings, Agnes Meisaloski of Glendive and Olivia Jimison of Glendive; two special friends, Eleanor Chamberlain of Terry, Montana and Margaret Gibbs of Glendive and numerous nieces and nephews.
