Lady Devils beat Hardin for first conference win

The Lady Red Devils hosted the Hardin Bulldogs on Thursday. DCHS won 12-2 to pick up their first conference win.

Glendive grabbed a quick 5-0 lead and never looked back. Wyniah Mintz led off the game with a double and was driven in with a triple by Cheyenne Ryan. The bats of Amanda Mittlesteadt, Lexi Pettersen, and Taya Torres also contributed to the great start. The Lady Devils had a 3-0 lead after one.

They scored two more in the second. Shay Deines singled, Baylee Huschka walked, Mintz got on then Ryan hit her second triple of the day.

In the 2nd Hardin got two hits combined with a walk to score their two runs. Glendive added two runs in the third. A triple by Hilbert in the fourth helped in the addition of four runs giving the home team the 12-2 advantage. In all DCHS had 16 hits in the five inning game.

Mintz pitched a complete game allowing Hardin only 4 hits.

Coach Todd Naasz said, “This was a breakout game for us. We had struggled to get consecutive hits in our past games, but the girls came out and pounded out hit after hit.”

Friday, the Lady Devils traveled to Billings to take on Laurel and Billings Central in a conference double header.
