“I thought the kids really responded well to playing on the road. We had some really good contributions across the board from a lot of different players,” Coach Wade Murphy said. “Wolf Point is a tough, scrappy team. I thought we did a good job of staying aggressive.”

-----The Lady Red Devils earned two home wins over the weekend with wins over the Custer County District High School Cowgirls and the Glasgow Lady Scotties.

“The Christmas break served to be a very good thing for us,” Coach Kayla Rivas said. “Dropping games to Havre and Colstrip before the break forced us to take a good look at what we were doing and it was very obvious that we needed to play a lot harder if we wanted to compete in our conference.”

She said the break allowed her to work with her team on defensive pressure and implement full court press options.

“We also spent a lot of time working on our stamina, as I don’t believe we were in as good of shape as we needed to be,” she added.

The work paid off.

“The last three games we have played harder for longer periods of time, which has really worked to our advantage. Our defensive pressure continues to improve and we have girls that are starting to shoot the ball really well,” Rivas added.

On Friday, the Lady Devils earned a conference win over CCDHS, defeating the Cowgirls 52-31.
