Boosters honor athletes during fall sports banquet

ALL-STATE

On Tuesday, Nov. 19 the Red Devil Booster Club sponsored the Dawson County High School Fall Sports banquet at the Moose. The football, golf, cross country, cheer and volleyball teams were represented.

Athletic Director Ryan Buckley started off the ceremony thanking the Moose for letting them hold the event there, he also thanked the administration and all of the coaches from other sports.

The first team presented was the Lady Devils volleyball squad.

Coach Tiffaney Egan gave 12 varsity letters to her team, which recently finished the season in third place at state.

Egan presented three team awards.

The Red Devil Award went to Ashley Reynolds, the Red Jersey Award went to Karsen Murphy and Meadow Torres was named the Most Valuable Player.

Murphy and Torres received 1st Team All Conference recognition and were named All-State.

Second Team All Conference awards went to Kayla Brown and Ashley Clapp. Honorable Mentions went to Brittany Kaufman and Madison Wahl.

Eleven cheerleaders received letters for the fall sports season.

Thirty players received a varsity letter for DCHS football this season. Captains awards went to Kirby Basta, Nelson Crisafulli, Kade Hellman and Mason Whitmer.

Coach Ryan Buckley noted All Conference and All-State awards will not be determined for football until next week.

Buckley honored Crisafulli for his career at DCHS. Crisafulli broke the school record for career rushing attempts with 398. He is also first in career rushing touchdowns with 27 and second in school history for career rushing with 1,802 yards.

A total of nine boys and six girls lettered for the cross country team. Captains awards went to Caleb Grigsby and Kasidi Walker and Keely Undem.

Coach Tom Temple presented team awards. Cody Harrington was named the Most Valuable Runner for the boys team and Abigail Stinnett earned the same honor for the girls.

Head and Heart Awards went to Caleb Grigsby for the boys and Undem for the girls.

Golf Coach Rudy Stulc presented varsity letters to one girl and five boys. The captain awards were given to Trenton Reinhart and Ethan Carney.

Twenty-three students earned Academic All State honors. To receive this honor, the athletes must play at the varsity level and maintain and 3.5 grade point average during the season.

Ahletes who received that honor are: Molly Eaton, Madeline Steinbron, Mallory Robinson, Kayla Brown, Meadow Torres, Tiana Carney, Ashley Clapp, Karsen Murphy, Rhett Hoffer, Parker Buckley, Trevor Held, Matt Dufner, TyAlan Kjelstrup, Mason Whitmer, Abigail Stinnett, Asier Sarriegi, Izabell Siegle, Keely Undem, Kasidi Walker, Ehtan Carney, Taven Coon, Lillian Olmstead and Tylee Dey.
