By tradition, baseball is “America’s pastime,” though anyone who’s watched the Little League World Series on ESPN knows that the sport has long since transcended America’s borders and is passionately played and followed around the world, especially in Latin America and East Asia but also increasingly in places like Europe and even Africa. And as America has exported baseball to the world, the country in recent decades has imported more and more foreign-born baseball players into the collegiate and professional levels. And the Dawson Community College baseball program has leaned into that dynamic in a major way with this year’s iteration of its team, with a very large contingent of international players getting ready to hit the diamond for the Bucs this spring.
