On June 6, 2021, our dear sweet Mom, Colleen Pedersen, left us to be with her beloved husband, Eugene.

Mom was born Colleen Avis to Percy and Mary (Chrisholm) Reynolds on May 25, 1928 in Flasher, N.D. Her father, Percy, passed away of Lou Gehrig’s disease when Mom was only five. Grandma Mary and Mom moved back to the Chrisholm family farm in Fargo, N.D. for a number of years. Mom had many happy memories growing up on the farm with her cousins and farm animals.

When Mom was a junior in high school, Grandma married Witt Thoma, and they moved to Bozeman. During high school, Mom enjoyed playing in the band. During the summer while attending MSU, Mom worked in Yellowstone Park at Old Faithful Inn. She forged close friendships, and these girls remained in contact until they were in their 80’s!

While attending MSU, Mom caught the eye of a certain young cowboy. Through her friends, he had to know the answer to a very important question – “Do you like horses?” This began the story of our Mom & Dad – they were married on Sept. 14, 1948 in Glendive. When they were first married, they worked at the Boys’ Ranch in Sentinel Butte, N.D. Most weekends were spent going with Dad to compete in rodeos. They then returned to Glendive where they ranched & raised registered Quarter horses. They had five children, and Mom managed kids, a home, and helping with the ranch. They both were busy supporting their family in horse shows, rodeos, and other sports. Mom was a life-long member of the Methodist Church choir until a few years ago. She also greatly enjoyed her homemakers club for many years. On Aug. 10, 2016, Dad passed away. She took pride in the fact that they both felt they’d chosen the right person to spend their life with, and were together for just short of 69 years.

Mom was able to spend the majority of her remaining years as she wished – on the family ranch, until about a year ago. Mom leaves behind her five children, Nancy (Sean Gallogly), Terry (Nancy), Dale (Susan), Robert and Mary (Tim Burman); 9 grandchildren, Kevin, Erin, Sean, Katie, Mackenzie and Dominick Gallogly, Sheyanne Pedersen, Brett (Julia) Burman and Breann (Danny Cullinan); 19 great-grandchildren, Brodyn, Brynlie, Bristol, Waelyn, Klyne, Isaiah, Caitlyn, Dillon, Makayla, Kevin, Givans, Emma, Harper, Mylie, Teal, Jordon, Brayden, Cameron, and Zander; her sister-in-law, Betty Ayre; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Glendive with Pastor Kevin Garman officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
