Unified Health Command of Dawson County announced they will host a community-wide COVID-19 testing at Dawson County Fairgrounds on July 7 from 4pm-7pm and July 8 from 7am-10am. The testing is free and is available to asymptomatic individuals only (those not presenting symptoms during the dates and times of the event).

“We realize many people may not have symptoms but want to know if they have COVID-19,” stated Timber Dempewolf, Director of Dawson County Health Department, “we organized this event as quickly as we could in response to positive cases in our county.”

Individuals who would like to be tested will need to follow the posted directions at Dawson County Fairgrounds during the times of the event. They are asked to remain in their vehicles during their nasal swab, which is performed right inside the nostrils making it less invasive, but just as effective as the nasopharyngeal swab. 1,000 tests will be available during the event and will be offered first come, first serve by registered nurses. No appointment is necessary.

Results for the tests will take 72 hours to process. The Dawson County Health Department will notify only those individuals with positive results.
