All Montanans should support I-186

Dear Editor:

The intent of I-186 is to deal with mining safety and accountability. Simple. Mining companies won’t be allowed to start up unless they have a process in place to protect against unsafe situations during operations and to clean up their mess rather than cut and run and file for bankruptcy, leaving us with arsenic, cyanide and a host of heavy metal poisoning of our streams and rivers. Again, simple. Who wants to pass up a chance to avoid longterm health issuers? Everyone remembers what consequences lead in our water system entails.

I-186 is a guideline to help us. Not a job killer. Mine workers should be supporting I-186, as should all Montanans.
