Sun Yat-sen, a political leader in China in 1912, when the great awakening of China began, was asked - What was the source of light and understanding. “It began when Robert Morrison translated the Bible into Chinese,” was his reply.

The Bible has been the source of light and encouragement for countless millions down through the ages. In the Bible, light is a symbol of truth. The Psalmist writes: “Your Word is a Lamp unto my feet, and a Light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105. The gospel of John records. “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12.

I’m old enough to remember the day before night-lights. As a child, there were nights that I needed to get up and though I knew where everything was, many times I would run into things and stub my toes. But if I could make it to the wall, feel around and find the light switch and turn on the light, I was perfectly fine. I could find my way.

The same is true today. Many are troubled by the perplexities in this world. Unsure what the future may hold. This is where the Bible has made such a wonderful difference in my life. That which has been unclear and dark before is now crystal clear and Light.

Again the Psalmist writes: “The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

I have found the Bible to be Light, a source of real hope and encouragement. I don’t know your life, but if it is filled with darkness, why not try God’s Word - the Bible. The Lord and Savior revealed therein is truly the Light of this World.
