Catherine (Cathy) Gail Fatzinger, age 82, of Glendive passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at her home.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the West Side Baptist Church in Glendive with Pastor Dan Pust officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Cathy was born on May 17, 1936 to Anton and Lois (Van Kleek) Schroeder in Spooner, Wis. She was raised and educated in Spooner where she attended public schools and later Shell Lake High School where she graduated with the class of 1954. Following high school, Cathy worked part time at Robertson Curtain Factory. This is how she paid for her college education at St. Paul Bible College in St. Paul, Minn. where she received her Childhood Education degree. After working at the curtain factory for 10 years, she moved to Pine Ridge, Ky. where she worked at Dessie Scott Children’s Home. On October 5, 1968 she was united in marriage to George Fatzinger in Rogers, Ky. The couple worked as house parents at the Children’s Home before moving to Glendive in 1975. They cared for Grace Fatzinger, George’s mother, until she was put in the nursing home. They returned to Kentucky in 1979 but moved back to Glendive in 1981, where they remained until their passing.

While in Glendive, Cathy stayed busy as a homemaker and working as a housekeeper. Recently she was semi-retired, as she was still cleaning the West Side Baptist Church. Her faith in God and her church family were very important to her. Cathy enjoyed sewing, jigsaw puzzles, word searches, crosswords, writing letters, and reciting and writing poetry. She loved being in the country, loved animals and was known to walk everywhere she went. Cathy was an exceptional baker, making sure her brother-in-law always had rolls and pies. Cathy loved Jesus, her Lord and Savior, and knew He would always provide for her and He did.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George in 1991; and her sister, Helen Roe.

She is survived by her sister, Bessie Hansen of St. Paul, Minn.; her brotherin-law, Pearce Fatzinger of Bloomfield; numerous nieces and nephews; friends; and the West Side Baptist Church family.

Please consider memorial gifts to West Side Baptist Church or KGLE radio in Cathy’s memory.
