Donald Duane Buxbaum Sr., age 80, of Glendive passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the Prairie Community Hospital in Terry after a brief fight with cancer.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Avis Anderson officiating with lunch to follow at the Moose Lodge. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

He was born on December 12, 1938 to Jacob and Viola (Bastrom) Buxbaum.

He grew up on the farm on Cracker Box Route and attended Yale Country School and went on to attend DCHS in Glendive.

He met the love of his life, Beverly Beyl, and they were married on June 16, 1957. To this union three children were born: Donald, Lory and Kelly.

He worked briefly for Daniels Plumbing and then went on to farm for 50 years until he sold out in 2000. He remained on the farm but then went to work for Buffalo Rapids Irrigation for several years and also Holly Sugar.

He was a member of the Moose, Jaycees and served on the ASC Board and Buffalo Rapids Board.

His greatest achievement is when he was awarded Outstanding Farmer of the Year during his lifetime.

He had a love of rebuilding antique tractors and restored several. He had quite the collection and loved driving them in parades. He also loved collecting toy tractors and several hundred lined the shelves in his workshop.

He was instrumental in forming the first Eastern Montana Tractor Pulls and was active in that for years.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly who is in the Terry Nursing Home; sons, Donald (Sharon Lemley) of Phoenix, Ariz. and Kelly (Bobbi) of Rapid City, S.D.; daughter, Lory (Duane) Heltemes of Glendive; grandchildren, Dane and Briana Buxbaum of Pheonix, Ariz., Lacy, Skylar and Courtney Jones of Aurora, Colo. and Paige Buxbaum of Ionia, Mich.; one great-grandson, Syrus Jones of Aurora, Colo.; brothers, Jerry (Donna) Buxbaum and Doug (Glenda) Buxbaum of Glendive; sisters, Beverly (Derry) Diegel of Valley City, N.D., Marlene (John) Martinez of Riverton, Wyo., and Janet (Jerry) Sims of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Viola; sister, Shirley Ronshaugen; grandchild, Donald Michael Buxbaum; along with a very special brotherin-law, Bill Gregg of Colstrip.
