West Glendive firefighters responded to a combine fire west of Lindsay Tuesday afternoon. A Dawson County producer had just started combining the edge of the field when he noticed the equipment was on fire. The WGFD responded with a rescue truck, water tender and two grass skids, because of the concern that the fire might run into the ripened wheat. A satellite truck from Lindsay also responded. The green vegetation on the edge of the field prevented the fire from spreading, according to WGFD Chief Richie Crisafulli. The fire burned less than a half of an acre. The combine, however, was a total loss.
