Letters

Dear Editor,

I’m writing this letter to share with the public what the West Glendive Fire Department is here to do. We currently have 20 volunteers; firefighters who are ready to respond 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You may know many of these individuals as they may also be out working their regular jobs among you. Our firemen range from less than 1 year of experience to over 40 years, these folks take pride in their department and our community.

We are responsible for the West Glendive Fire District and also have a contract to provide fire protection in Dawson County. We respond to fires, vehicle accidents and any other incidents that we can assist in. Our department is also a good neighbor to our surrounding counties, available for mutual aid as needed, and we rely on those county departments if we are falling short. The Richey Fire Department and a number of satellite trucks manned by local land owners are also key in our county contract coverage.

In 2018, the West Glendive Fire Department responded to 121 total calls and put in over 1535 hours of training. The calls included the following incidents in West Glendive and Dawson County:

West Glendive Calls (39)

Motor Vehicle Accidents

(11)

Fires (10)

Other Emergency Calls (18)

Dawson County Calls (82)

Motor Vehicle Accidents (41)

Fires (28)

Other Emergency Calls (13)

We do this job for our community and its citizens. It is our honor to serve you. If anybody would like to learn more, please stop by the West Glendive Fire Department on the first or second Wednesday of any month as those are our normal training nights.

Thank you,

Richie Crisafulli

Chief
