Larry Peabody will be inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame

Former DCC Buccaneer Larry Peabody will be inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, Colorado on August 3.

Earlier this year in February, he was a part of the first induction class for the DCC Hall of Fame.

Peabody was a bareback rider who helped the Bucs win a National Championship in 1981. That is still the only National Championship team Dawson Community College has ever produced. In that magical year, the men’s team first won a Big Sky Region Championship and then the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) Men’s Championship. Peabody won the Bareback championship at Nationals. That was also the first of five consecutive years he went to the National Finals Rodeo. He captured the world title in bareback riding in 1984. Peabody set the NFR record with an 89 point ride on Growney’s Dreamboat Annie.

He was also a champion of the Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit bareback riding year-end title four times, the circuit team roping title once and the all-around once.
