Gordon (Gordy) Roy Matisheck was born on July 31, 1947 in Glendive, the fourth and last child of Joseph and Mary (Diegel) Matisheck.

He passed away peacefully on June 24, 2019 in his home in Portland, Ore. of natural disease at age 71.

Gordy began his life in Glendive, where he attended both public and catholic schools. After his schooling he started his wondrous adventures when he joined the Peace Corp. and moved to Utah. Afterwards, he then briefly moved to California, then on to New Mexico, Texas and Oregon. His next adventure was moving to Puerto Rico for a couple of years as he loved the women there. He returned to Portland to join family where he lived until he passed away. He had a passion for adventure, outdoors, motor cycles, country/western music, women and food. His family and friends remember Gordy as always being happy, smiling and loved his infectious laugh.

Gordy is survived by his brother, Calvin, of Oregon; his sister, Lorraine, of California; plus his nieces, Kim (Steve), JoAnn, Jenifer and Carolyn (Kevin); and nephews, John (Laura) and Nathan; also, his brother-in-law, Dale.

The family held an intimate ‘Celebration of Life’ on June 30, 2019 in Gresham, Ore. In Gordy’s memory and a family tradition, you are encouraged to listen to the song, “I’ll Fly Away,” played at the memorial of both his mother Mary, and sister, Virginia, who proceeded him in death. His father, Joseph, also preceded him in death. Gordy has Flown Away to join them.
