Family and friends met at the VFW in Glendive Saturday evening, July 13 to drink a toast to Red and share memories.

On Sunday, July 14 more family and friends gathered at his favorite paddle fishing spot, Intake, for the spreading of his ashes.

Redford was born in Deer River, Minn. to Frank G. and Margaret W. (Blythe) Folsom. Red was the fifth of seven children the Folsoms had. Red’s family grew when Margaret married Ernie Burlison, Sr., and had five children and were living in Glendive.

Red met and married Wanda M. Olson and they had two children, their first baby came when they lived above the Yellowstone Cleaners. Jim and Mary Carter took Red and Wanda under their wings and were godparents to their children.

After their divorce in 1967 Redford moved to California and started working for Butler Equipment. He spent many years in California enjoying the beaches, the horse racing, the Dodgers, the cars, and the women, making yearly trips back to Montana for paddlefishing.

Red worked hard enough to be able to buy a repair business in Los Alamitos, Calif., which he named Folsom Electric. Not only could Red fix virtually anything but he also offered house call repair services to the elderly and disabled.

During all these years Redford was very active in the Loyal Order of the Moose in Burbank, Los Alamitos, Rosemead, Foothill District, and Glendive. He served as Vice President, President, Past President, Governor and District Governor among various other roles. Always looking to serve his community.

In the early 1990s Redford started investing in rental properties in Glendive. In 2013 Red sold his business in California and moved back to Glendive to retire.

Redford was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robert Carter Folsom; sisters, Geri Rice and Ruby Southerland; and brother, Frank G. Folsom, Jr.

Red is survived by his daughter, Rhonda L. Pearson (divorced) of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; sisters, Peggy Belenski of Castle Rock, Wash., Emily Burris of Glendive, and Beatrice Merrill of Angleton, Texas; half-sisters, Della Kabenuk (Gaylon) of Max, N.D., Sarah Honeymann of Glendive, and Judy Stephens of Riverton, Wyo.; half-brothers, Ernie Burlison, Jr. of Shelby, Mont., and Pat Burlison (Sue) of Glendive; and numerous nieces and nephews.
