The AARP sponsored tax-aide program is gearing up for tax season here @ the center. This is a free volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service that can transmit your return directly to the IRS. This service is available to taxpayers with low and middle income with special attention to those 60 and older. We have 6 volunteers who assist taxpayers on an appointment only basis. Please call 377-3791 to schedule an appointment.

On Wednesday, February 13th from 1:30-3:00, the Alzheimer’s Association will be presenting a workshop entitled “Dementia Conversations” here at the center. This workshop offers tips on how to have honest and caring conversations with family members about deciding when to stop driving, going to the doctor and making legal and financial plans. Communication techniques and available resources will be discussed. This workshop is open and free to the public, they are asking for registrations by calling 1-800-272-3900.

Thursday, February 14th is Valentine’s Day. In an effort to encourage new seniors to attend our congregate meal program, we are offering a “special”. Come as a guest or bring a friend that has never been here before for lunch and the suggested donation for guests is waived. The menu is chicken fried steak. It is still necessary to call in reservations, either the day before or by 8:30 on February 14th.

Thank you to the following individuals for their donations to the center: Mark Geiger, Greg and Myrna Sadorf, Charleen Frank, Mary Ann Marman, Mary Berger, Bernice Rudnick and Terry Skerritt..

Thank you to the following for their memorials given to the center: Mark and DeLight Simon in memory of Gale Abbey, LaDonna Jimison and Don Lewis
