Live music, cold beer, food and fun for the whole family are on tap this Thursday, July 11, at Celebrate Glendive! in downtown at the EPEC parking lot and Merrill Avenue, presented by the Dawson County Economic Development Council and Sugar Plum Jewelry.

The event officially starts at 6 p.m. and will end at 10 p.m. Food and beverage service will begin at 5:30 p.m.

“We hope you will come down and join us as we celebrate all the wonderful things that make Glendive a great place to live and which give our town a bright future, including all the dedicated volunteers who work so hard to better our community,” said DCEDC Executive Director Jason Stuart. “Our first event last July was a success, but with something for everyone in the family to enjoy this time, we believe this Celebrate Glendive! will be even better.”

As part of this Celebrate Glendive!, the dedication ceremony will be held for Pamela Harr’s new “Heart of a Lion” bronze statue at the EPEC honoring Glendive’s local service volunteers. Mayor Jerry Jimison, who is proclaiming July 11 the “Day of the Volunteer,” will deliver remarks along with Harr. The dedication ceremony will begin at approximately 6:45 p.m. The event will also serve as the unofficial kickoff to the Glendive Chamber of Commerce’s “Crazy Days” downtown shopping promotion, which runs July 12-13.

Taking the stage at Celebrate Glendive! are local favorites Mighty Big Jim & the Tall Boys and Groove Creek out of Lewistown.

The Dawson County Library will be organizing and supervising games and activities for kids in Our Park from 7-9 p.m. during the event. Facepainting and lawn games will be on offer and free sodas will be available to the little ones. For liability reasons, an adult guardian must remain with children aged 10 and under.

Craft beer from Beaver Creek Brewery and Cross Country Brewing will be available on tap. There is no fee to enter the event but beers are $5 a piece for a 16-ounce cup.

Food vendors will be set up along Merrill Avenue, with five options to choose from. Food vendors at the event include Tailgators, Rub it Out BBQ, Bully Burgers, the Glendive Kiwanis and T’s Traveling Table.

Event attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of two pairs of round-trip tickets on Cape Air which will be raffled during the event. Raffle tickets are $1 a piece or you can “go yard” (a yard’s worth) for $10. The raffle drawing will be held at 9 p.m. and you must be in attendance to win.

A multitude of generous local sponsors have helped make this event possible, including Cape Air, American Ford, BOSS Office Supply, Cravn’s, Glendive Medical Center, J&K Dollar Store, McPherson Dental, Mid-Rivers Commmunications, Mon-Dak Construction Supply, Shoe Shack, Stockman Bank, U.S. Bank, the Vint, VOYA Financial and WBI Energy, with additional support by Blondies Salon, Cal’s Carpet, the Glendive Chamber of Commerce, Guelff Lumber and Superior Water.
