The Red Devils boys and and girls cross country teams both won their home meet on Thursday.

“The boys scored 22 points, a nice low score to edge Killdeer, Sidney, and Heart River,” Coach Tom Temple said.

The scoring runners for the boys were Cody Harrington, followed by Ayden Jackson, Payden Burman, Alex Hopfauf, and Troy Arveson. All of these guys finished in the top 10.

The girls scored 43 points to edge out the other teams at the meet as well. Leading the girls was Hannah Beach followed by Sage Sportsman, Abigail Stinnett and Abby Barnick who all finished in the top 10. Ryleigh Mittelstaed rounded out the scoring runners finishing 11th.

“Overall the times weren’t as fast as our last meet in Mandan, but that’s the thing with cross country, every course is different and the Glendive course is much more difficult to run than the paper flat, fast Mandan course,” Temple said. “I was quite pleased with how the Red Devils competed.”

The Glendive said he was also proud of how his team worked to prepare for the meet.

“I was proud of the work these outstanding young people did weed eating, mowing, setting up, and picking up trash along the course,” he said.

He noted that the cross country course that run from Jaycee West Park under the bridge to Eyer Park connecting with the trail along the river to the black bridge is a great trail that anyone can use.

The teams will travel to Ft. Peck for the next meet on another paper flat course where Temple said he expects to see some big drops in times for these hard working athletes.
