Happy Tails opens pet food pantry

Sunday, February 16, 2020

The Happy Tails Pet Food Pantry Program was started in January 2020 to help local residents feed their pets in times of financial hardship. Currently this program only serves residents of Glendive, Montana who are experiencing tight financial times. Their goal is to help families keep their pets fed so they can remain in their homes where they are loved. This program is designed as a temporary solution and will serve families in need on a first-come, firstserved basis. This program is not to be used to feed community or feral cats.

Pet owners wishing to utilize the Pet Food Pantry will need to fill out an application, which is available online, by email, by mail or can be picked up at the Dawson County Food Bank. The pantry is entirely donation-driven and there may be times that there will not be enough donations to meet the needs of the community.

Happy Tails can only accept food donations that are in unopened bags or cans and no more than 2 months past the Best By date. Monetary donations to the program are accepted by mail and Pay Pal. Donations of food can be dropped off at the Dawson County Food Bank and Tractor Supply in Glendive. Please contact Happy Tails if you would like them to pick up any donations.

Happy Tails would love to add more drop off areas for donations and secure an office or store-front space where food could be stored and pet owners could visit with them. Happy Tails will continue to notify the community as the program expands and evolves.
