This spring at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, our community was faced with new challenges. Businesses and groups had to come up with innovative ways to keep their services available to the public while maintaining social distance and quarantining. Businesses such as Reynolds Market, Sugar Plum Fine Jewelry, and The Nurturing Tree program have brought new ways to help the people of Dawson County.

To help with getting grocery necessities, Reynolds Market launched their new online shopping program called Reynolds Rosie Online Shopping. This program can be used on a phone with an app or on a desktop computer. It is a convenient way for the residents to order groceries without having to leave their homes. Rosie has options for curbside pickup or delivery within a fivemile radius of the store. Also offering delivery is our local jewelry store, Sugar Plum Fine Jewelry. They will deliver your order or pick up a piece that needs to be fixed. They even hold Facebook live streams to showcase products you can order online. Customers can still get that special gift or fix an heirloom ring and social distance. Even some programs adapted to ensure social distancing. The Nurturing Tree program services the community with fun weekly kids’ crafts. The crafts are in kits for the parents to pick up outside of the courthouse. The Nurturing Tree employees do a video showing kids how to put the craft together and post it on Facebook. These are just a few examples of how Dawson County has overcome the obstacles before them.

As the normal flu season, Covid-19, and winter set in, our community will continue to pull together to get through these times of uncertainty. It is amazing to see the businesses and our community citizens rising to the challenge.

This is what makes Dawson County a great place to live, our community is there for its members. We all believe in keeping Dawson County the best place to live!

Stay healthy by utilizing the services that are designed to help you make life a little easier.
