Anyone looking to the sky on the evening of Sunday, May 15 may have noticed something unusual about the moon as a total lunar eclipse took place. The lunar eclipse coincided with a super moon, leading astronomy enthusiasts to dub the event a “Super Flower Blood Moon.” The totality of the eclipse lasted approximately 85 minutes, the longest total lunar eclipse since one in 1989 that lasted in totality for 96 minutes, according to www.timeanddate.com. The total duration of Sunday’s eclipse lasted a total of 5 hours and 19 minutes. The next total lunar eclipse is expected to take place on Monday, Nov. 7, 2022. Brendan Heidner photo
