Political Letters Policy

Thursday, October 22, 2020

In the interest of fairness, the Ranger-Review will publish no letters about the general election in its Nov. 1 issue before election day, Nov. 3. This includes both letters for or against specific candidates and letters for or against ballot initiatives.

However, candidates who feel letters in the Oct. 29 issue contained charges to which they were never allowed to respond may submit letters to the Nov. 1 edition. Such letters should only address the last-minute charges and should make no new charges of their own.

Likewise, letter writers may respond to any allegations made regarding ballot initiatives in the Nov. 1 issue. Only letters which are a direct response to allegations made in the Oct. 29 issue may be submitted for the Nov. 1 issue, and again, those letters should only address the last-minute allegations and should make no new allegations of their own against the opposition.

Letters for the Oct. 29 issue must be submitted no later than noon on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Letters in response to any allegations made in the Oct. 29 issue must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29 in order to be published in the Nov. 1 issue.

We reserve the right to edit letters for length, taste and libel considerations. Letters must be signed and must include an address and phone number.
