Red Devils lose to hot MC team, come back with big win over Glasgow

The Dawson County High School Red Devil boys basketball team came up against a hot Miles City team Friday night, losing 68-39.

“We ran into a very hot team that played very well,” Coach Wade Murphy said. “I give them a lot of credit.”

The team from Miles City got out to a strong early lead making some tough shots. On the other hand, the Red Devils struggled to make their baskets fall early on.

“...we got into a hole we couldn’t get out of,” Murphy said. “We will definintely learn from this going forward.”

Red Devils sophomore Riley Basta led scoring for the team with 12 points.

The Red Devil team had the hot hand Saturday night, when they took a 72-50 victory over the Glasgow Scotties.

“The tables were turned the next night and we caught fire,” Murphy said. “It was a lot of fun to watch the kids shoot the ball that well. It was also good to see them bounce back after Friday night’s disappointing loss.”

Red Devil sophomore Taven Coon had his most impressive game of the season, hitting nine 3-pointers and adding a field goal to finish the game with 29 points. Coon was 9 for 12 behind the arc.

Basta was again in double digits for the Red Devils with 13 points.

Sophomore Parker Buckley had eight assists and eight rebounds for the Red Devils.

The Red Devils are on the road for their next five games. They traveled to Wolf Point Tuesday and will be in Lewistown on Saturday.
