Anyone who found his or herself needing a ride will be happy to hear that Glendive has a new taxi service called “The Taxi.”

The Taxi is owned and operated by Dean and Eva Gross. Dean will be the principal operator.

The Grosses wanted their own business and felt there was a need for a taxi service in Glendive. The service will be in operation 24 hours a day. “If they call at 4 o’clock in the morning, we’ll pick them up,” said Eva.

The Grosses will use a cellular phone for their business, making it very easy for customers to contact them 24 hours a day.

The Grosses officially opened their business May 1. Call 989-TAXI for a ride any time.

After battling late winter storms and rain in the past few weeks, farmers throughout the county put in long days planting this week.

“Two weeks ago, nothing was done,” commented Mike Carlson, Dawson County Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS) director. Producers were playing catch-up for awhile, but after this week planting should be about half complete, he said.

He added that if the weather cooperated, it shouldn’t be too long before all of the planting is complete. “Then, we need the June rains,” he said.
