The Red Devil track teams ended their regular season with a bang, racking up over 30 new personal records between the boys’ and girls’ teams.

“I couldn’t be happier with how the boys and girls competed in Sidney,” Coach Tom Temple said.

Temple said several athletes sat out of last week’s meet in Miles City, due to weather, training or injury and the rest paid off big in Sidney.

Riley Phipps and Teagan Wahl were big surprises in the shot put, discus, and javelin, according to Temple.

“They threw very well for being just freshmen, placing up there with juniors and seniors,” Temple noted.

Khobe Smith pounced out to near 41 feet in the triple jump, which is rare for a freshman, Temple added.

On the track Cody Harrington and Camron Egan scored some nice points with wins in the hurdles. Basil Crisafulli ran his best time in the 400 and also helped the 4x400 relay team lower their time into the 3:30s.

Cole Storlie and Taden Sokoloski also performed very well in the pole vault.

“Our boys weightman’s relay brought home the win in that crowd pleasing event, which was a lot of fun for everyone,” Temple said. The weightman’s relay is a for-fun 4x100 relay that involves athletes who specialize in throwing field events. Instead of a the traditional baton, the athletes handed off oranges which the final participant - in DCHS’s case Dolan Mittelsteadt - has to finish eating first for the win.

The girls continued their dominance in the pole vault led by Tiana Carney and Madison Wahl, both clearing 11 feet. That is a personal record for Wahl. Not far behind the two seniors were Codi Nagle in 4th place and Megan Frank in 6th.

Nagle was a double winner in the high jump and triple jump, where she jumped qualifying distances in each event.

“That’s pretty great for a freshman,” Temple said.

The girls also had good success on the track led by wins in the 100 and 200 by sophomore Jazmine Toups. Toups was also part of the winning 4x400 and 4x100 relay teams, earning four gold medals and Female Athlete of the Meet honors.

The girls 4x100 of Toups, Carney, Jane Harrison, and Wahl ran a qualifying time for the state meet.

“That’s a pretty big deal. It was great to have performances like these heading into divisionals and state,” Temple said.
