Wayne Allen “Shorty” Dey, age 59 of Glendive, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 in Phoenix from pulmonary fibrosis.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. A Life Tribute Service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive with Celebrant Heidi Carney officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Wayne was born on June 1, 1962 in Glendive to his parents Joseph “Junior” Dey, Jr. and Mildred (McGaughey) Dey. He was raised and educated in Glendive, graduating from Dawson County High School with the class of 1982.

Following high school, Wayne worked various jobs for a few years until he met Tracy Whiteman. They were united in marriage on May 22, 1992 in Glendive and to this union three children were born. They lived in Helena for a short time before they returned to Glendive to raise their family. Wayne went to work for Lee Gibbs on the Gibbs Ranch for a few years before he started his career at SRS Crisafulli where he worked as a welder and a painter for over twenty years until 2015 when his health forced him to retire.

Wayne enjoyed camping and fishing, working on Haunted Hollow and golfing at Cow Patty Links. He cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren whom he loved more than anything.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph “Junior” Dey, Jr.; one brother, Terry Dey; a special uncle, Paul Dey; father-in-law, Dean Whiteman; and special dog, Yeah-Yeah. He is survived by his wife, Tracy Dey; his mother, Mildred Dey; three children, Michella Dey (David Emly), Mattea Dey (Tyrell Peyatt) and Bryce Dey; three grandchildren, Olivia Lou Dey, Oliver David Emly and Oscar Wayne Emly; one sister, Tammy Dey; one brother, Todd Dey all of Glendive and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
